Having to change Hosting, I wanted to make sure I didn't take any rash steps.
In the meantime I also did some tests locally: using HeidiSQL I downloaded an entire "MariaDB 11.3.2" db then I deleted all the tables of the corresponding db made with mysql 8.0.30 and reloaded them from the backup by MariaDB.
Everything went without any problems and the local website that worked with MariaDB works just as well with mysql
