This issue was fixed in Joomla 5.1.2 (see the list of fixes in the release announcement).
A new setting has been added to the TinyMCE plugin:
Sandbox Iframes = On | Off.
The default value is On. Change the value to Off, edit your article and embedded PDF documents will display as discussed in the magazine article referred to earlier.![Smiley :)]()
